📚 Vocabularies:

  • 我 (ngóh): I; me

  • 叫 (gíu): called; named

  • 你 (néih): you (singular)

  • 乜嘢 (māt yéh): what?

  • 咩 (mē): contraction of "what" (māt yéh)

  • 名 (mèng): name

  • 啊 (a): particle often put at the end of a question or sentence

  • 阿 (ā): particle used in front of a first name to make it sound better (e.g., 阿Ling; 阿Tim)

  • 好 (hóu): good; well; OK


🗣️ Key Sentences:

  1. 你好,我叫Tim。你叫咩名啊? Néih hóu, ngóh giu Tim. Néih giu mē mèng a? "Hello, my name is Tim. What's your name?"

  2. 我叫阿Ling。Ngóh giu ā Ling. "My name is A-Ling."

  3. 你好,阿Ling。Néih hóu, ā Ling. "Hi, A-Ling."
